Four months till X-Mas! Have you started your list, yet? I am working on mine. All done by October! That is my goal. In October, I can relax and concentrate on business donations. Quilts, doll clothes, and whatever else this seamstress dreams up.

Today, a quick trip to the post office to send out all my swaps for this month! Hooray!

Build me a Cabin

I do love Log Cabin Quilts. Maybe, because it was my first quilt... ever. My aunt convinced me to take a quilting class. I can blame her, right? The year was 1994. This quilt is tied and torn. I keep it to remind me of where, I came from. I even liked green back then. Funny, huh?

Today, I am working along on a couple of different blocks. Here is a Scrappy Log Cabin. Not done yet. Two inch logs.A good stash buster.Creams for the lights and whatever.. I pull from the two inch noodle drawer.

Will, I have a cabin by the end of the day?

Summer School for my DD is over. She managed to loose her bus privilege. Grr! So, in my book that first D is for dumb. For the last week, we have carted her back and forth. Needless to say, I am disappointed in her choices. She is almost 18 not 10...

I feel like today is the first day of my new life!

This is the mortgage lifter! It is huge.

Tuesday Tidbits ~ Living the Dream

After, much thought and careful consideration... I am taking my little home based business in a new direction. My girls do not seem to be interested in learning, what is my head. (This makes me sad.) But, maybe they will learn something.( Crossing my fingers and knocking on wood at the same time.)

Eventually, I want a Sewing / Quilting Academy. A place where people can gather, learn, and laugh.Complete with a Retreat Center maybe, a quilt shop. If, I were a millionaire..I would just build it. But , I am not. "Scrap!".... I say.

Now, for the part that takes nerves of steel....Change. Scary to me. So, I will start small. Still out of my house. Our old garage is my quilt room. People can come take lessons (quilting or sewing) Cheap. I think, lessons are over priced in my area.

They can try out my Bailey and just have fun.
Or
Learn to make pajama pants for Xmas presents.Or a quilt?
Or
Learn to hem their own pants. (Save $$$)

This all may be a pipe dream but, it is my pipe dream! lol!
Wait, until my hubby sees his To-Do list. It is more than placing an ad!

Lets see if, I can have it all!

I went to Joann's yesterday. While the hubby went to the local home improvement store. I don't really like going to the home improvement store and he doesn't like Joann's ...Good compromise...right?

I shopped for my secret pal over on the Quilting Board. I can't show you, what I bought her, yet. No peeking! That is the Rule.

I did shop for a swap that Amy of Amy's Passions twisted my arm to join. LOL! Not really.

And, I bought this pattern.

The Maxi dress. I am thinking about the yellow one, not the color, the style. I have to measures myself (yikes!) Garment sewing, runs different than buying off the rack. I always, have to alter the length. I didn't buy the fabric, yet. What do I have at home?????

Off to the shower!

That is after weeding and watering.

Fourteen Years Ago, Today !

I was working hard at finishing my wedding gown. I wasn't getting married until 6pm. Plenty of time. Yeah, that was a little nuts! I was young.

I made all these, too. In a matter of weeks, not months. Jeff and I met, March 3, 1996.That is Stacey's birthday. (The girl on the far left.) Were engaged a few months.. later. Those are my girls next to me. I still can't believe it. Pictures don't lie.

I was not a Bridezilla.The girls picked their own dresses. The guys wore black jeans and cowboy boots. The two guys on the left, they are Jeff's sons. ( No they DO NOT call me, Mom.) I would kick them in the pants!
Jeff Jr. is 37 and Barret (second from the left ) is 34 and I am 40. Now you understand why, I would kick them? I can't be your Mommy! lol~!

My little footlocker is packed full.
There is a ton of stuff in here.The doll in yellow sat on my bed as a little girl.
Strawberry Shortcake was probably one of my first sewing projects.
The Indian doll was played with often. Pocahontas, I believe. My second daughter is named Rebecca, and if you know anything about Pocahontas her American name, is Rebecca. My daughter, was not suppose to be named Rebecca but, when I saw her...She didn't look like the name, we picked out for her.So, I changed it. (Without my ex-husbands permission.) I probably, knew then, that marriage was over. I was just not ready, to admit it.My first daughter is named Jessica so I guess I had a thing for "cca."
The little sweater, bonnet , and afghan are crocheted.We brought my daughters home in those.

Now, under all this are the teenage years.My Parents always encouraged us to volunteer.When I was 15 or so, I joined an Explorer Post. This probably saved me from making really poor choices. I was really railed on as a teen, being 6' tall at the age of thirteen. Kids in my hometown are mean. Maybe, because people in my hometown have money. I really don't know. Do not pick on a country girl!!! She will get even!

Now, at age forty, I am comfortable with myself. I can quickly, tell them where to go and how to get there.All with a smile on my face!

This is my high school graduation. A year early. I may be polish but, I am not dumb.lol! The funny thing is I walked across this stage again in, 2008. Which brings me to my thoughts... now. What to do? My kids don't really need me much, anymore.They were my focus for so long.
Do I continue with the seamstress thing or use my degree? Go back to school? Sigh...These decisions are exhausting.
I will probably end up doing both.Work outside my house and run my business.
I really do believe, we can do it all!

All in one footlocker? I often wonder.This footlocker has seen many different stages in my life. I probably, have had it since, I was twelve. What is in it? Where has it traveled?
Well, two marriages and lots of moves.
A girl becoming a woman.
Finding her way...always taking the rough road. A magnet for difficult people and obstacles. That is the truth.
Survivor? Maybe...
So, What is in there?
I haven't added to it, in fourteen years. So, honestly... I can't remember.

Doll Quilt Addiction ?

Yes, I am addicted! I can now show you the piece, I sent my partner.

I used ultra violet thread to quilt it. Inside the thread appears white and outside the thread appears magenta. Cool right? It doesn't take much to thrill me. In the sewing/quilting room, anyway.

I have learned, I should not be so lazy. When binding a quilt by machine... use your walking foot, Lori!With these little quilts, I can get away with using my 1/4 " foot but, bigger than 24" I must switch to my walking foot ...Grrrr!

6:26 am here, on the east coast. It's raining cats and dogs, outside my window. A peaceful sound for sure. No lightening, just the sound of rain.

Speaking of peaceful sounds, you must check this website out www.donthomasmusic.com . I bought his Autumn CD, last weekend. This weekend, I am going to purchase his Xmas CD.

Sunday, is the 25th ! The day, I start my Xmas sewing. Maybe, I will be done by September or October! That's my goal. Cross your fingers :0)!

Why are they lined up ...like kinder gardeners?

I guess, you will see, later. That Kenmore owes me nothing. Hubby bought her in 1996 for me.She sewed my wedding and many others. Prom gowns, curtains, and whatever else clients have asked me to do? I think, we paid $300.00 dollars for her. Her name is Kelly. I love you, Kelly! Ya see, the Seamstress pays for the Quilter. Cause if you quilt...you know ...the cost!

Pictured above the Doll Quilt, I received from Lavandula Girl over on the Quilting Board! She sewed all of those little beads on by hand! Can you stand it? I love it! She made it for me based on the waddle, we recently attended. I am going to hang it in my sewing/quilting/sweat shop for everyone to see. Every time, I look at it, I will think of faces like this:

We are all just trying to ride this heat wave out. Poor Fur babies! This is Miss Elly the last few days. Not much I can do, to help them. Lots of H2O and ice cubes.

Where to go?

When, you feel stressed or overwhelmed or just need to get out of the house for 15 minutes? Hubby and I go here.It's the City Pier.We go for different reasons. The DH likes the water. He is a Pisces. Not me, I would be lucky to save myself in the water.

I go to people watch. This time of year there are allot of tourist. The same locals are fishing, running,or walking their dogs. If you go now, you will see allot of teens just "hanging out." Hard to believe, I use to be one of them.LOL!

There is a little circle turn around at the end of the Pier. In this circle, is this monument in front of a big Pine tree. (If you click on it, it will enlarge for you.)

It is Graduation Weekend, around here. I hope all Graduates, play it safe. Thirteen Years of your life, is a huge accomplishment! Yup, that includes you... Mr. Future Funeral Director!

I am thinking, I will need to make a pillow for Becca's graduation... to sit on. Her class is huge. Somewhere around 350 to 400.

Next week, we will go somewhere different. Probably, rich in history. I am a history nerd! I love to read and research it.

Dog / Cat Bed Tute ~ Part 1

Let me first say, I am not a pattern author. ;0)

We are making a pillow case and a pillow to insert. That's easy, right?

Size is up to you...There is a huge difference between, a cat and a lab. I am making my bed rectangle.

These are my "snippets." The pieces you trim off, when squaring up a block. Or the batting you trim off, before adding the binding. I cut the fabric into squares for future scrap quilts. What is left, is mixed poly fill for stuffing. Is this why my kids, call me a tree hug-er? LOL!

Here are examples of the Sherpa and cording. The cording is optional. When you purchase trims, be prepared to spend more $$$$. I always cover my dog/cat beds with small quilts. Then, I can just wash those, weekly.

Gather Your Supplies

~ sewing supplies (thread, sewing machine...ect)

~ Sherpa ( Jo Ann's has this. My Jo Ann's has it, near the felt)

~ Cording ( totally optional)******

~ stuffing (Poly Fill) and scraps

~ Poly cotton or muslin

~ Sew in Velcro or sticky backed Velcro

~ Some fabric for the back. ( think washable) I am going to use Corduroy. Denim would be great, too.

Pre-wash all fabrics.(except for your snippets) 100 % cotton shrinks and that, would not be good.

Here is my Dad with Gilly. Jeff and I, bought Gilly from a breeder, a few years ago. He was a Fathers Day present. Probably, my best one. Gilly was a stud, now retired. He and my Dad are having a blast...in retirement together. I love this breed, which probably, came from my Dad.

And to my husband, Happy Fathers Day! I know my girls don't show appreciation to you (they will regret that)... I do. You have given us a life that, I couldn't have provided to them on my own. At least, the fur babies do!

Today, is a little less chaotic.(See previous post.) My daughter and her friend took that music, (I don't understand) over to her friends house. Hurray! All, I can think is... " To be 17." I don't want to go there.. again. Especially, in today's world. The 80's was a better time to be a teenager!

Here is Today's To-Do List:

~ Finish those pillow cases for Quilts of Valor.(I could not find them.) GRRR...

~Finish my tutorial for the Dog/Cat bed. Which will post tomorrow! Trust me, you will save $$$. If, you can quilt/sew ...you can do this. Easy Peasy!

~Make a Basket "look pretty" for Fido Fest. Hubby and I, are going to Boome Towne for Fido Fest.You can check it out HERE. That would be today from 12-5 pm. We will be representing All Bassets Cherished, Basset Hound Rescue. You can visit them HERE.

Sew-In Day!!!!

~Today, I have to finish hemming for a client. He claims, "he has NO pants." (Of course, he is teasing me.) At least...Let's hope that is the case. LOL!

~Then, I am off to my favorite Post office. ( This statement depends on the clerk.) I hope, the people that arrived before me, have not given the clerk a hard time. Customer service... Arrg! Cross your fingers..my clerk is not having a bad day! Cause then, I will have to go into a Jim Carey performance. ~LOL!!! I will let you know how that goes.

I have found a local organization that will take all of my homeless quilts. They will distribute them to those in need.
The way this came about was fate, I think. I hemmed some pants for a very nice gentleman. We got to chatting and the subject came up.
Of course, he was standing in my sewing room. It's hard to miss Freddy and Cloe'..really...10 ft of loveliness!
Yup, Fate at work!

The biggest hit of the yard sale!The Dogie condo!Many people muttered "That's too small for 4 dogs." Well, there was a crate hooked to the back! The dogs were stressed in the house and in the back yard.We put them where the action was. They hardly barked at the strangers.Others said it was a good idea!
People kill me! Maybe, they should keep negative thoughts to themselves. Kindness? There is a thought? This world could use a little more of that.

Dinner last night! The chicken was done in the smoker! Yummy!The DH had steak. I don't like steak. I know, I am wierd!

It is a day late (thanks to NY weather). My flag is flying, today.As you can see, it's beautiful outside, today!

Almost 4:30 AM here on the east coast. I love getting up this early. The birds have just started to make noise. I wonder, what they are talking about? It's still dark. So, I guess you can say... I am an early bird! I wake up every day between 3am and 5am. The truth is, I enjoy the peace and quiet of the early morning.

Today is the big sale. I marked all the stuff cheap! I just want it...to be gone. It's not coming back in the house. These yard sales are alot of work! (sigh)

It takes me a week to get through a normal Pink Saturday List. Not the Birthday Celebration... though.

Look how itty bitty my girls were! Why am I showing you this? Look what I found!

While sorting for my yard/junk sale on Saturday.. I found the scraps. I think..a quilt is in order. If you wish to maintain your sanity...Do not sew your own wedding gown and all the attendants in less than a month!
I was young and dumb! (That's my excuse!)
The girls picked their own dresses. I picked the color and fabric. It's a brocade. Why on earth did I pick that fabric? Because it had roses on it. I still love the fabric.I still have a thing for roses. (Much to my hubby's dismay.) He does NOT like them. They prick him. Probably, because ...he does not like them. LOL!!

My first award goes to Keurig! We received a coffee maker like this for Xmas. Last week, it started acting funny. (I was not laughing!) Lori is a coffee junkie!

Hubby called Keurig and they sent a NEW one. I love when a company backs their product! Yes, they're costly but, worth every penny. We don't waste as much coffee. A simple NY girl likes hers... just as you see it.. Black..no fufu stuff.

Here I am! (yuck!) Walking Potsie and Miss Stevie Nicks! I think, Miss Stevie Nicks will find her "forever home" very soon. Then, you can all cry with me! I have spent so much time teaching her and loving her it's gonna be hard to give her up.

How do people do this with humans? I really don't know...

Here is the back of one of the floats! ABCBHR is going green! All of these decorations are reusable! The fabric came from Texas to NY in 2 days!! Gotta luv the Priority Pony!!! LOL!

Here is the front! I couldn't find the fabric with the little red, ruby shoes. That.. is what I wanted but, the blue fabric had wands on it and is part of the same fabric line (sigh).

Now, I am off to Dink around with my serger that is acting up! If, you have one...you know they are ...Temper mental!!! Nothing like a sewing machine...Sergers are their own breed.

Today, I will be playing with this fabric.ABCBHR is going green. I am cutting this fabric up to decorate the floats for the "No Place Like Home Waddle." You can read all about it here http://www.nybasset.org/

Maybe, I will have to haul out my yearbook from 1987 for inspiration!! Oh dear !

I am going to use a wavy blade to cut the fabric. Super, heavy duty, sticky Velcro for the trailer and sew on Velcro for the fabric side. Other than that...I do not know.

A work in progress! I am thinking of using bows every ___ amount of feet?

I **Heart ** my mail lady! I received this book, yesterday. Yup, Better Homes and Gardens has my number! Of course, I am going to purchase this book. LOL!!

While searching for the lambs wool, I found this! I wore this some years ago! ( I can't believe it.) Duchess Satin all made from my Moms wedding gown. I am glad she did this. I would have NEVER fit into her wedding gown.She was a size 0, maybe???
She stood 5'8" and I am 6'.
Now, Mom is a little shorter. ( Time does this people!)

Here is the whole outfit. I love the coat! Mom said some elderly lady made it in RI.
Yup, some seamstress. I get those looks from my clients. You know, you in vision someone to look a certain way...and they look totally different? Human nature, I suppose????

Here is our set up from yesterday! We had sooo much fun. We talked to people about bassets, other dogs, and cats. The folks at Petco are so kind. They really go the extra mile for rescue organizations.

Here is the board my hubby made.It folds in half for easy transport.I think, you can click on the pick for a close-up.
The pictures are attached with that double-sided scrap booking tape. So, we can change them.
Next month, I will make a table cloth. I am going to use double-knit. It hangs well and doesn't wrinkle.

Okay, Here is something else, I received in the mail. I am not excited about it. I can't run like some of my blog buddies. I have old basketball injuries and I would fall flat on my face. ( Stumble Lina not Ballerina) LOL!! Sad but,true.

If it is good enough for the military then, it must be good enough for me!

Hubby and I are off to.. Pet co this afternoon. An information table for ABC.

Here is my box of " snippets." (You know those trimmings..that are too little to do anything with.) I am making Stevie a pet bed. I hope this helps, her.. make the transition to her forever home, a little easier. It will at least.. help me. I can't imagine how human foster parents do this?
I hunted all day yesterday for... lambs wool for the top of her bed. Yup, up in the crawl space. Hubby went up there. Totes ..Totes ..Totes.... I will use up some of this stuff...Someday? Honest, I will!

Hi! My name is Miss Elly. I am a Classic Basset. My Mommy bought me from a breeder because, I was un-mate-able. My Mommy doesn't care about my female issues. She loves me with all her heart!
I can make her laugh! As you can see, I have a pink tongue.

If, I were human, I would wear pink lip gloss just like my Mommy.

Here I am sleeping. Mommy takes weird pictures of me.

Mommy said her love of bassets started.. because of me. It's my duty to help save and find homes for my fellow homeless bassets. I love being an ambassador for ABC..

My very old UFO saw some progress in the last 7 hours. Yeah...been up all night. I am not much of a sleeper. I slept from maybe... 8pm-midnight. I woke up just in time to see the Yankees loose to the Red Socks. My boyfreind...ya know...the shortstop was up next...then...it was over...Drats!!!

Oh well!

Here are my Herloom Tomatoes. Sitting on the counter. Can I really plant them? We have had some wacky weather. They are under warranty.. 90 Days from the good folks at Cottage Farms.Here is there website http://www.cottagefarmsdirect.com/

This will help me keep my mind off.. my mouth. The Princess of Procrastination (me) has an abcess. Yup!! I am no dentist, nurse,or doctor but, I remember this pain. Ya see, I have a molar that should have been pulled months ago....It didn't hurt, it was dead. :( So, I let it go...and.. now I have a problem. A swollen right cheek, warm to the touch, and of course...Pain.
You would think a former CNA / EMT would know better?
Well, This princess (LOL!!) is off to beg for an antibiotic. (kicking herself)

Upside-Down Pizza Casserole and More

I really do NOT like the "Witching Hour." ( ya know...What is for dinner..tonight??)

So, if I can make things ahead.. I am happy! Quite frankly, everyone else is happy, too. LOL!

Here are my kitchen helpers.

These are not necessary components but, I use them often. The Kitchen Pro and the Temp-tation Baker are available at http://www.qvc.com/. Next time, I am going to try pizza dough instead of biscuits.
The basic recipe came from the book pictured above. I changed it.. a bit.

Upside-Down Pizza Casserole
(see pic on previous post)

1.5 lb. lean ground beef
1 small onion diced
garlic diced
Olive oil
1 jar of spaghetti sauce
1.5 cups of shredded cheese
2 small cans of mushrooms pieces~drained (optional)
1 can of black olives ~drained and diced (optional)
1 10- oz pkg. of refrigerated biscuits

Heat a large skillet (I used a chicken fryer). Pour one round of olive oil. Let it get hot. Til it smokes a little. Add diced onion and garlic. Fry til transparent. Then add hamburg. Fry til hamburg is brown.Drain grease if you have it.I didn't have much.
Next, add mushrooms, olives, and spaghetti sauce. Let them mingle over the heat for a few minutes.
I used a ceramic baker. I did NOT grease it. No need. If your using another kind of pan,you may want to grease it.Pour mixture into baker.Cover and place in the fridge or freezer.

Remember,I am doing this in the am, before the "witching hour."

When it's time, Heat the oven to 400 degrees. Place casserole in the oven for 15minutes. Then add shredded cheese. Flatten biscuits in your hands. Place them on top of the cheese.Return casserole to the oven for 15 minutes. Bake until biscuits are golden brown.

If you are preparing and baking all at once, bake for 15 minutes.I added 15 minutes because it was in the refrigerator all day.

Today, I must fix Potsie's harness. He came to me with a guilty look on his face.I looked at him and noticed his harness was around his Gludieous Maximus (his butt). He chewed it off!! I really tried not to laugh...a mixed message, ya know. I told him he was "naughty boy" holding my breathe so, I would not laugh...The guilty look just cracks me up!
Come-On... We have "Breakfast with the Bassets" on Saturday!..He needs his harness.He needs to check the calender, before doing "naughty" things!

A thumbs up from the dinner crowd last night! It's Upside Down Pizza Casserole. I will share the recipe tomorrow.Quick, easy, and a crowd pleaser. My kind of cooking.

I found the extension table!!! (two points for me) LOL!!!

Hubby hooked on the laser arm thing!

Here is one set of handles. The other set is waiting for me... to decide placement.I can rotate them 180 degrees. I need to play and decide.

The Love Triangle

Freddy the Frame and his girlfriend of about one year have went their separate ways. His girlfriend (pictured above) now sits across directly across the room..looking at Freddy..wondering what went wrong?
After, a big bowl of chocolate ice cream, a shower (a cleaning and oil job),and a girl talk (messing around with the bobbin tension)she has found the strength to move on.Please don't feel bad for her. She is transforming into a "piecing goddess."
I need to find her extension table.Hmmm.. Where did I put that?

Next, we put furniture sliders under Freddy's legs. This makes it easy to move Freddy away from the wall. He is over 10ft long.

This pic makes me Giddy!!! I am trying to show you quilting space. Yup, 17" between the bars.I can't wait to get busy!!!

We still have to hook up the stitch regulator and the double handles. That is on today's list.
I set the machine on the table and played for a bit. It feels different. More heavy duty.Kinda like comparing, my first car..a Horizon to what I drive now...a Santa FE. LOL!

Here is "Freddy the Frame." He is in the buff! LOL! No machine! He is getting his new, shapely, girlfreind today!!! I am beyond excited! Hubby may have to peel me off the ceiling!!

Look what I received in the mail yesterday!!! It came from Victoria from Bumble Beans Inc.. I guessed... she had received 500 blocks from kind quilters. She received 501. Woot! Woot! I won!!

Victoria needs more help from us.You can read all about her project HERE. This project is close to my heart. I don't live in the big city. I live in a rural community in Western NY.
Back in 2008, We did a presentation on the Homeless.This was for a Humanities Class. Bellow you will see a photo Hubby and I took on the "hobo trail" (this is what the teens call it). So, if you think this does not happen in your own community look closer.

I have to call on my new machine today!!!I hope she is ready for pick-up! Freddy the frame needs a new girlfriend!!! She is quite shapely! 17" of quilting space! With a quilt on her... it will be roughly 12.5"!!

Log Cabin blocks are done!!They just need to be squared up. Then it's playtime!!!

All Jr. Prom gowns have been hemmed and returned to their owners! Here is the bottom of my daughters. I am squealing with excitement!!! Thanks to her gladiator shoes...NO hemming needed.
There are many layers under there. The dress is hanging there patiently, waiting for me to steam it. That is my major task for today.Does it make you think of chocolate? I am craving a Hershey Bar..I have been a good girl....No chocolate yet! LOL!
They are still calling for rain. Drats!! All we need is a few hours of no rain. Come on Mother Nature...work with us. Be a team player!

Wacky Wednesday

Here is Miss Elly with Becca's "kickers" (shoes) for Prom. Miss Elly is all ready for her morning walk. Harness on and eyes open.She has 10 pounds to loose and she needs to be in shape for the waddle.(A month away!) No "poop wagon" for her.The bassets who are too old or can't walk the entire parade route catch a ride the "poop wagon." LOL!! By the way, she will hold on to the biscuit until, sometime this afternoon.

Back to the "kickers." Yes there cool! (This coming from someone, who does not get excited about shoes.)Fabric yes..Shoes not so much. Becca loves shoes. Too high of a heel for me, I would be 6'5" tall.( I wouldn't miss a thing!)LOL! She will be taking flip-flops to prom, also. I think, she is almost prom ready.

I have one more log to add to my log cabin blocks. Then it's playtime.

It is going to be 80 here, today. I have bare root roses that need planting and a list a mile long.

I am double sewing them for itty bitty HST's( 1.5 inch).A bit obsessive??? lol! I make 10 a day...like a good prescription. lol

To keep me out of trouble...I am continuing on with prom alterations. They are calling for rain on Saturday. Yikes!! My daughters dress is taffeta. She will have a nice chocolate brown gown with water marks all over it. Doesn't that sound lovely??

Oh well, (she probably won't remember the rain)!

I spent some time looking through my "vintage" patterns this weekend. I pulled this one for my daughter, Jess. With the baby due in September,I thought she could use some summer dresses to beat the NY heat!
She thought the shorter version was cute. The one hour dress! I will time it, just for fun!

I found some other neat patterns too! The muslin bunnies with all the clothes. I wonder if Bonnie Hunter from Quiltville designed those? I will post about that later.

Here is Miss Elly enjoying the beautiful weather we had in Western NY this weekend. We are planning on re-doing the patio this summer. The glider could use some new cushions and the patio is going to be bigger.

Seamstress or Quilter? Both actually. Here is a dress, I am hemming for a client. I don't have that color thread. A trip to Joann's is in order.(giggle) The Jr.Prom is Saturday. The bra is attached to the dress. I need to fix that. It's making me crazy! White straps? no! no! no!

I have to hem my daughters dress too.I will show you her dress later. I didn't make her dress this year. :( I will make her Senior Ball Gown. She is going to draw it and I will make it for her. She can sketch, I cannot. If, I had both of these talents, I could be the next Vera Wang. LOL!

Here is the wonderful package, I received this week. I participated in a Doll Quilt Swap. Kathi made this for me. I don't think she knew that I collect angels. Jim Shore pieces are all over my house.I am going to hang her behind my sewing machine on the wall.Thanks Again Kathi! I love her!

Today, we are taking the the "Fat Pack" to Boometowne for a doggie spa day. Yes, they are spoiled. LOL! While we are there we will spend some time with the Fleetwood Four. They are warming up. It is truly amazing what a little love can do! Their tails aren't tucked anymore. As soon as they see us they know.. it's lovin and play time.

Today, I will be piecing and planting. Zone five is open! Pictured above is "Powder Puff Grass." It turns pink. I also have roses,Heirloom tomatoes,and some other perennials coming. I can't wait. Spring fever??? Most definitely!

My log cabins are coming along. Slow and steady wins the race so they say. LOL!

Here is Miss Elly this morning. I guess,she will not be bothered by the sunrise. Her ears are covering her eyes. She is snoring away. LOL!

There is only one baby. I guess, I need to come up with something new to tease Jess about. lol

I am soo excited! I can make little dresses,bonnets,and doll clothes. Hooray!!

We took our pack to the vet yesterday. It was their annual visit for vaccinations. I really need to look into pet insurance. Cost effective or not???

The vet put them on a weight watcher program. Drats..all three need to loose ten pounds each. I hope, if we increase walks and cut calorie intake these fat dogs will shed 10lbs each. To be honest a walk won't hurt me, either. I can walk the bassets alone.Which is kinda funny. I am going to need help with one more! Hint hubby **wink and a nudge*

At 5:45 pm, Jess and Justin have their first ultrasound. I keep teasing her about twins. Her Dad is a twin, actually his Mom had two sets. LOL! We are watching Camden for them. I can't wait...Anticipation!!!

Yesterday, I did manage to get my strips cut for the log cabin class that Pat at Quilting can be Fun is offering. It is going to be donated to Quilts of Valor when completed.I am planning on using the light for all the light logs.

My DD Jessica stopped by Monday to show us her new hair cut. She is holding 12 inches of hair that was cut off. She decided to donate it to Locks of Love. This makes mom soooo Happy. It is "virgin hair." Never been permed or colored. She is not going to have the time to mess around with hair. She has Camden (1 year old) and a baby due in September.

Gone to the Dogs...Again

On the road trip last week, I picked up some "dog fabrics." I think... I could use some blenders. Does anyone have a pattern idea?

Today, hubby and I are visiting Boomtowne.
ABC welcomed "The Fleetwood Four" from Missouri, yesterday.We are going to visit and socialize these bassets.They came from a puppy mill. Its any ones guess just how they respond to humans. Hopefully, they will find "forever homes" soon here on the east coast.I will share some pictures and a few stories with you tomorrow. Animals are another passion of mine. They must have fur. No reptiles for me!!

Results of the Longarm Road Trip and more

Here is last weeks focus project. A UFO transformed to a top! Complete with a scrappy binding. I need to come up with the backing. The border is flat but, I was too lazy to press it before the pic! LOL!

The Trip

We had soo much fun!

First, we checked out what Handi Quilter had to offer.

The HQ Sixteen and the HQ Eighteen Avante. If my budget and space would allow ...I would have bought the Avante.She is fourteen feet long.Lots of bells and whistles! When we were told the price...I think hubby was in shock! LOL

I just chuckled to myself...He hasn't seen a Gammill yet!

Then after a quick lunch we headed to Leicester, NY. I knew this stop would be more in the budget.Keep in mind.. I already have a Proflex Frame that is less than a year old.Mama just wants more quilt area. She is tired of having to advance the quilt every 4.5 inches.

We arrived at Bailey's. I wanted to see this Home Quilter.Chuck and his sons build these. We test drove the 13 inch.It seemed very sturdy. The machine also comes in a 15 inch and 17inch.

We went home and mulled over our options. After alot of debating..I called Chuck and ordered the 17 inch. Wahoo! Now, mama will have at least 12 inches of quilting space!
I hope to have it by Mothers Day!

The Longarm Road Trip

Hubby and I are traveling all around New York today! We are checking out longarms. I am not buying just.. yet. Lets just call it "research for my dream." I can't share that dream yet, but I will soon.

Back to my Roots

We have "Breakfast with the Bassets" coming up in May. It is the first official event of the season for ABC Basset Hound Rescue. A very low key get together happening at various locations all around NY state. Coffee, Donuts, and Bassets..Fun!

Rather than charge for this event, they are asking each family to bring a gift basket which they will use at a future events for Chinese Auctions.

After some thought, I decided our family would donate a "Barbie Basket." I do appologize for my Barbies with No clothes. I won't be donating these dolls.They are from the mid 70's. I am just using them to fit the clothes, I am making. I haven't made clothes for a long time. So, this should be fun. I did make clothes for these exact dolls when I was a little girl. They are rubber with bendable joints. The hair is different than todays Barbie.

I am adding the final border to this weeks focus project. (See previous post.) I have the binding completed. "Freddy the Frame" better be ready! LOL

Hi All! Has it been that long since my last post? Anyway, Here is my snowball quilt along top.

I am thinking of doing a scalloped border after quilting it. A swap block I am perfecting.

This little man keeps me hoppin. He is walking now. Spilled the dogs water dish the other day!He will be a year old on the 18th of this month.

My youngest daughter takes cosmetology classes at a local career center. She has b decided to get a spiral perm. (getting ready for prom) I can't believe how much this cost ...a whopping $7.50. Unreal right?
I just hope it comes out the way she visualizes it. I will take a pic and show you tomorrow. I was a teen in the 80's so I have had my fair share of "poodle perms" and huge hair.LOL!

Blogger still looks weird to me. I am missing my font button. Where did that go?

The top picture is a mini quilt for a swap.

The bottom picture is some fabric I received yesterday from Thousands of Bolts...and Only One Nut. You can check them out HERE. I love that place. They are fast and efficient.

We just returned from the "Tax Man." Yuck! Our tax man is rather good looking. He has the most beautiful blue eyes. This eases my pain a bit. Although, I really have to try hard not to stare. :)My hubby just chuckles about this.

I need to get busy on my Quilt Alongs.I have two, I am currently working on.Hopefully,I can show you the progress Wednesday. Off to the sewing room...still thinking about those " Baby Blues."

A Finish! Carolina Crossroads is complete. A mystery from Bonnie Hunter. I decided not to do borders on this piece because, I wanted to use the leftover blues for My Blue Heaven . See previous post.

It is a dreary day here in western NY. I am not complaining. It could look like this picture of Potsie. No Thank- You!!! I have had enough of that. " Say No to Snow" that is my motto. : )

I couldn't lay it totally flat without moving furniture. 70 nine patches and two days to assemble. The fabrics vary from every holiday to Sponge Bob. Now, I am off to the stash to find backing and binding fabrics.
