Field Trip !

Welcome to the Sonnenberg Gardens! This was the summer home of Frederick Ferris and Mary Clark Thompson. You can read all about the history **Here** .

Hubby and I went there this past weekend for a Art Show. We took a Garden Tour, the Mansion Tour and enjoyed the Art Show. I haven't been to Sonnenberg Gardens in years. The history buff in me was excited.

Even the quilter in me was excited !

And the gardener...

I am planning to return there when the leaves change color. Hope you enjoyed our brief tour.

Oh Look!

Because of these two creatures...

I have signed up to volunteer for this organization.****Here**** It is no secret ..I adore bassets. Miss Elly and Silly Gilly are too cute. All of my animals are rescues for one reason or another. Its just something about a basset. What am I going to do? I don't really know, yet.

I do know... fostering would be permanent. ~ yikes~

Yesterday I went here :

I am going to put together another "Field Trip." This takes me a while. ( I am so computer savvy) NOT REALLY.

Some pictures need no words......

Have a Great Day!!!

Half in the Bag!!!

Not really... lol!

I am in search of the perfect tote bag. These bags will be for donation. They must be quick and easy! (mass production) I am trying this pattern.

Things I MUST DO this week:

  • Start school shopping (school starts 9/4) . I haven't even bought a pencil.

  • Extreme Makeover/ Home Edition is working on a home about 15 miles away. I must go check it out. I will take my camera. :)

Today's Photo- "Miss Elly and me."

I don't like my picture taken. (I always look ...dorky) I am stepping outside my box.

Now Wait..A Polish Moment !

As promised... here is the recipe for cabbage rolls known as "Gotompki".

1 lb hamburg

1 small cabbage

1 onion

Parsley Flakes (we think about a teaspoon)

1 cup rice cooked

Spry (which is Crisco/shortening)

salt and pepper

1) Cook cabbage in water about 20 minutes. Drain and leaf off.

2) Cook rice.

3) Fry onions in spry til soft.

4) Mix RAW hamburg, rice, onions, and parsley flakes. Add a little salt and pepper.

5) Place mixture in cabbage leaves and roll. Place rolls in a 9 x 11 " pan.

6) Dot cabbage rolls with 3 tablespoons of spry.

7) Add 1 cup of water to the bottom of the pan. Cover with Aluminum Foil. Bake at 350 degrees for about 2 hours.

At our house, we ate them with ketchup.Spaghetti sauce would be good too. I hope this recipe is easy to understand. There were NO measurements. Mom and I just guessed at it from memory.

Bath Time Photos -Some like it while others are horrified!

Batter Up !

My Hubby and I went to Frontier Field again. I love this ballpark. Its plunked in the middle of Rochester,NY. To be quite honest, we go when the Wings (AAA affiliate for the Twins) play Scranton ( the AAA affiliate for the Yankees).
This time we sat four rows behind home plate. Too close in my opinion. I know there is a net but, that little ball is fast. Yikes! At a basketball game, I would sit on the sidelines and not be nervous.
Notice the picture on the right. That is Kodak Headquarters.

I am planning to get some quilting done today. It is gloomy here . A great day for quilting and a nap.

Yesterdays Yankee Quiz - Who is this?

If you guessed Mr. Ron Guidry .....You are right!

Picture of the Day

All tongue and ears! The photographer cut the top of Mitzies head off. Sorry Mitzie...I will try to do better next time. In my own defense, Miss Elly is 55lbs of love running at me!

Warning....

I am back ! I can hear the the yeahs and nae's. LOL!

I thought today, I would share a funny picture from the Air Show.

I am the pilot and my dad is the gunner. I could not be in the Air Force. The cockpit is too tiny for me. I don't care for heights either. My dad a See Bee during the Vietnam era probably would do this, if he was younger. Have a Great Day!

If you left me a message, I will respond. Please be patient. Miss Elly will return soon.
